Pronounce Organic Skincare Review

What…Makeup?

I’m not a heavy makeup wearer. In fact, I usually only wear a moisturizing sunscreen and use a mineral based powder. On special occasions, I will use BB cream and mineral powers with some light eyeshadow and mascara. What does this have to do with gardening you might ask? Nothing. Just wanted to share with you my experience of a new line of organic makeup made with real ingredients.

What is Pronounce?

Pronounce is a skin care line started by the creator of the blog, Scratch Mommy. It’s a line of face and body care products made with 100% organically certified, real ingredients. Ingredients you can pronounce. I had the opportunity to try out the facial foundation and powder, along with a tube of lip balm.

First of all, let’s talk about the ingredients. In the foundation, the ingredients for the medium color I used for my skin tone are as follows:

Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Beeswax, Cocoa Butter, Zinc Oxide, Cacao Powder, Vitamin E, & Cinnamon.

For the powder:

Arrowroot Powder, Cacao Powder, Zinc Oxide, Cinnamon, & Vitamin E.

For the lip lotion:

Almond Oil, Beeswax, Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Neem Oil (15% olive oil), & Vitamin E. Essential Oils: Bergamot & German Chamomile.

As the products promise: all ingredients are pronounceable and organic.

Coverage

The best thing about the Pronounce line is the smell. I especially love the foundation powder—you can smell the cacao powder and cinnamon. It almost makes you want to eat it. The coverage is light. The foundation, in particular, goes on like a think lotion. It’s better to take a dab and rub it in your palm to warm/loosen it up before applying.

I have combination skin (oily in the T zone) and I didn’t feel that the foundation was too thick or oily. In fact, at the end of the day when I washed my face, my skin feels soft and amazing! The powder is very light as well. Once applied over the foundation, your skin looks smooth and even. Does it cover every blemish? No. My freckles show right through, but your skin looks even and fresh.

The lip lotion smells great and works well. I don’t think it’s anything super special, but I like lip balms and can never have enough.

Final Thoughts

Overall I really like the Pronounce foundation line.  Its price point is in line with many other organic and non-big box stores cosmetics. I like that it’s made with real ingredients and smells great. Will I continue to use them? Absolutely!
